about

Haunting electronic pop

Following the release of Wake Up!’s first single Joy In Me, the
Edinburgh based artist returns with this fantastic debut EP, The Powers
and the Ways of Altruistic Love.

Wake Up! provides a firmly grounded and honest exploration of love
and life, set against a cosmic and cinematic backdrop that creates the
basis for this EP. ‘The Powers and the Ways of Altruistic Love’ is a
luscious musical discovery of love’s complications that is both deeply
personal and widely engaging, encouraging involvement and reflection
from the listener.

The EP opens up with ‘The Powers’, which takes a cue from indie and
dance and aligns itself with the likes of Hot Chip and Metronomy. ’A
Meeting’ slowly builds with bubbling synths and arpeggios, which then
assemble and burst into chorus with a soaring synth lead. ‘Pale Green’ is
a whimsical track that is driven by playful, interchanging piano chords,
that then integrates numerous luscious synth melodies and builds to a
climactic finale. The final track, ‘Altruistic Love’, is a haunting piece of
electronic pop, with subtle R&B influences that explodes into its last
passage, providing a memorable closing moment for the EP.

Wake Up! rouses the emotions, provokes thought and provides numerous
musical highlights throughout this momentous debut EP. Catchy hooks,
with a clear skill and use of ear-worm melodies, ensure you’ll give it
repeated listens.

The Powers and the Ways of Altruistic Love is released 6th March on
Paradise Palms Records, distributed digitally by EPM and mastered by
the lovely Sam at the Green Door Studios, Glasgow.
